The Annual Report 2023-2024 of the World Independent Network (WIN) highlights a year of significant advances and renovations in the independent music sector. With a network that covers 43 territories and represents more than 8,000 music companies, WIN reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development and equity in the industry.

2024 marked the renewal of Global Values of Independents, updated to reflect current challenges and opportunities. These values, which include market access, creators' rights, transparency and sustainability, guide WIN's mission to ensure an equitable future for all actors in the sector.

Another of the most notable milestones of the year was the launch of the program. WIN Supporters.

This initiative, designed to involve companies that support and promote the global independent community. The first wave of partners is comprised of Bandcamp, Marauder and Random Sounds. As allies, at Random Sounds we not only reinforce the network infrastructure, but we also advocate from the leadership the defense of a fair and accessible musical ecosystem.

In terms of rights management, WIN played a crucial role in the international management of related rights. Through the coordination of specialized committees and active participation in working groups, WIN facilitated the adoption of good practices among collective management entities. One of the key projects in this area is the Repertory Data Exchange (RDx), a global portal for the exchange of data on related rights repertoires between record labels and management entities.

This year, the incorporation of companies such as Domino Records and Sentric Music improved efficiency in the distribution of rights in 16 territories, underlining WIN's commitment to fairness and transparency in revenue distribution. In addition to these initiatives, WIN continued to promote cooperation and development in emerging markets, as seen in the formation of new partnerships in Paraguay and Mexico.

The WINHUB events and the annual WINCON conference offered valuable opportunities for independent music professionals to connect and share knowledge.

In summary, WIN's Annual Report 2023-2024 highlights a year of expansion and strengthening of the global independent community, with a focus on sustainability, equal opportunities and innovation. With programs like WIN Supporters and tools like RDx, WIN is laying the groundwork for a dynamic and just future for independent music around the world.
